"Han Dong-hoon Responsible for the Current Situation"
"Constantly Fighting and Obstructing the President"
Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, recently criticized Han Dong-hoon, the former leader of the People Power Party who is gearing up for a comeback, saying, "Han Dong-hoon is a puppet made by President Yoon Seok-yeol," and warned, "If he comes in, he will die by my hand."
On the 26th, Mayor Hong appeared on MBC's '100-Minute Debate' and said, "Who is responsible for bringing this situation to this point? That responsibility lies with Han Dong-hoon," adding, "If you become the ruling party leader, what should you do? You should have cooperated with the president in some way and worked together to strengthen the power."
He continued, "Clashing over every issue and constantly obstructing?how can the president manage the political situation like that?" and argued, "Ultimately, the responsibility for the impeachment and the ensuing political turmoil lies not only with President Yoon but equally with former leader Han."
He further stated, "Did he rise by his own ability? He wasn't even fit to be Minister of Justice. He jumped ranks significantly," and criticized, "President Yoon made him, then raised him again as the ruling party's emergency committee chairman, so what happened during the general election?"
He also said, "When you become the party leader, you are nothing; only the party exists," and added, "(But former leader Han) was just going around taking selfies. Traveling all over the country," he said. He continued, "So the general election was completely ruined. It was a total disaster. The opposition seats became 192, and the ruling party seats 108," and criticized, "After doing that, when he returned as party leader, he should have cooperated with the president. But all he ever thought about was sitting around fighting, and how can the ruling party leader always obstruct the president?" He then said, "I won't say anything more. Whether he does or not, I won't get involved," but added, "But if he comes in, he will die by my hand."
On the same day, former leader Han signaled his political comeback by publishing his autobiography, People First - Han Dong-hoon's Choice. Regarding President Yoon's emergency martial law, he said, "It is difficult to understand explanations that describe it as a warning martial law or enlightenment martial law." He added, "I cannot know the president's innermost thoughts," but emphasized, "The term 'enlightenment' means teaching people with low knowledge levels or those steeped in outdated customs, but our people are not subjects to be enlightened by martial law."
