Blended Scotch Whisky Launched in 1884
Price Lowered to Under 10,000 Won Through Integrated Purchasing
Popular in South America and Europe, Gaining Attention as a Highball in Korea
Emart announced on the 27th that it will exclusively sell the ultra-low-priced blended Scotch whisky 'Black and White (700㎖)' priced at 9,900 won.
The product is sold regularly at Emart, and during March, it is offered at 9,900 won in promotions at Everyday and Emart24. At Everyday, the price is cheaper than the regular price of 11,900 won, and at Emart24, it can be purchased for 9,900 won when paying with Naver Pay.
The ultra-low price operation was made possible by integrated purchasing. The company explained that they secured large quantities since last year with the goal of maintaining a selling price under 10,000 won so that customers can enjoy it without price burden 365 days a year, enabling operation at the industry's lowest price level.
Black and White is a historic whisky launched in Scotland in 1884. It is a blended whisky mixing several single malts and grain whiskies such as 'Dalwhinnie' and 'Clynelish,' which are the original spirits of the world-famous whisky 'Johnnie Walker,' allowing for a variety of aromas. It features caramel, vanilla, fruit scents, and a subtle spiciness.
It is popular in South America and Europe, where cocktail culture is well developed, and it is trendy to mix it with various beverages such as cola, lemonade, and Red Bull. In Korea, it is also frequently used for highball cocktails.
Baek Min, Emart’s whisky buyer, said, "As the high inflation trend continues, the whisky market is becoming polarized into ultra-low and ultra-high price segments. We focused on operating new whisky products that guarantee quality while keeping prices as low as possible in line with Emart’s ongoing ultra-low price strategy."
