Before the vote, lawmakers from the People Power Party protested the proceedings led by Committee Chair Jeong Cheong-rae and others by walking out entirely and abstaining from the vote.
The opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, plan to process the Myeong Taegyun Special Prosecutor Act at the plenary session of the National Assembly scheduled for the 27th.
The core content of the Myeong Taegyun Special Prosecutor Act includes investigating politicians suspected of being involved with President Yoon Seok-yeol, First Lady Kim Geon-hee, and Mr. Myeong.
