Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center Adds Cardiologist Specialist

Focused Treatment for Ischemic Heart Disease, Arrhythmia, and Valvular Disease
Strengthening Essential Medical Services Amid Growing Elderly Population in Gijang County

The Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center (Medical Director Lee Chang-hoon) has recently recruited an additional cardiology specialist to actively respond to the demand for essential medical care in the region and to ensure the successful opening of the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center.

Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center Adds Cardiologist Specialist Cardiology Department Chief Seongman Kim.

Starting mid-February, Cardiologist Kim Seong-man began his practice. He has worked as a cardiology specialist at Inje University Gaegeum Paik Hospital, Maryknoll Hospital, and Dong-Eui Hospital, gaining extensive experience in various treatments and cardiovascular procedures. He possesses rich clinical experience in ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, valvular disease, hypertension, angina, myocardial infarction, and peripheral vascular diseases.

In particular, procedures that were previously impossible at the Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center, such as diagnosis and intervention for acute myocardial infarction, coronary angiography and stent insertion, peripheral vascular imaging and treatment, venous access, implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators, non-surgical heart valve treatments, and treatment of atrial septal defects, have now become feasible.

Additionally, in a region with a large elderly population, rapid response to high-risk diseases is now possible, which is expected to contribute to the stable operation of the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center scheduled to open in the first half of the year.

Cardiologist Kim Seong-man stated, “It is most important for heart disease patients to receive regular check-ups at a nearby hospital, and meticulous, thorough care that can predict and prepare for sudden emergencies is even more crucial. I will provide warm and professional care that patients can trust and rely on like family.”

Medical Director Lee Chang-hoon said, “Although it is nationally challenging to secure specialists in essential medical fields, we have actively recruited excellent medical staff in response to the strong demand from local residents for expanded care in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. We aim to continuously build a health safety net so that the elderly in the region can live safely and comfortably, and we will do our best to expand essential medical infrastructure so that all generations living in the area can lead healthy and vibrant lives.”

The Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center is preparing to open the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center in the first half of the year by inviting specialists and establishing advanced medical infrastructure, including facilities and equipment.

The Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center is the first example of a local government-led essential medical strengthening project supported by Busan City, Gijang County, and the Ulju County Seosaeng-myeon Residents’ Council. It represents an effort to provide essential medical care based on actual living areas rather than administrative district-centered medical systems, with local governments and residents working together.
