Chonnam National University announced on the 26th that it held the 73rd commencement ceremony at the Minjoo Maru on campus.

On this day, Chonnam National University awarded degrees to a total of 4,312 graduates, including 3,288 bachelor's, 836 master's, and 188 doctoral degrees. The ceremony began with a performance by the student club 'Highcode', followed by an academic report by Vice President for Academic Affairs Lee Myungkyu, a congratulatory address by President Lee Geunbae, a speech by Alumni Association President Cho Sunghui, and the presentation of various awards and degree certificates, including the Academic Excellence Award.

Newly appointed President Lee Geunbae was officially appointed the previous day after being selected as the top candidate in the final round of the presidential candidate election held last September.

He underwent verification of thesis and research ethics by the university's Research Ethics Integrity Committee, personnel verification by the Ministry of Education for high-ranking public officials, and was recently appointed through a Cabinet meeting.

Attending his first official event as president, Lee Geunbae said at the commencement, "I hope you will carry the name of Chonnam National University with you as you step into a new world and create a shining path in your respective places," and added, "Rather than trying to fit yourself to society's standards of success, I hope you will lead a meaningful life by seeking out what you find valuable."

Chonnam National University will hold the entrance ceremony for the 2025 academic year on the 28th, and the official inauguration ceremony for the president is scheduled for the end of next month.
