Kakao Entertainment Publishes 6th White Paper on Illegal Distribution Response
Blocked 240 Million Cases Including 150,000 Instances of Illegal Copies in North America
Last year, Kakao Entertainment (Kakao Enter) announced on the 26th that it detected and blocked access to approximately 240 million cases of illegal content in the second half of the year.

Through the 6th Illegal Distribution Response White Paper published on the 26th, Kakao Enter disclosed the achievements of blocking such illegal content.
According to the white paper, Peacock, the global illegal distribution response team under Kakao Enter, reported and shut down one illegal site in Indonesia in September last year, and in October, halted the activities of one illegal translation group in Brazil. In December last year, they identified the operator of an English-language web novel illegal site and blocked the site, and detected 150,000 cases of illegal content distribution across North American open platforms, blogs, and e-commerce platforms.
The total number of illegal content cases blocked over the past three years amounts to approximately 740 million, and 14 major illegal sites have been shut down.
Lee Hojun, Head of Legal Affairs at Kakao Enter, said, "With the 6th white paper as a milestone, we have systematized our capabilities to respond to illegal distribution of webtoons and web novels for the first time in the industry," adding, "Going forward, we will protect Kakao Entertainment’s intellectual property (IP) as a whole, including webtoons and web novels."
