Osan City in Gyeonggi Province is set to begin full-scale maintenance work around Seorang Reservoir in the Seorang-dong area.

On the 26th, Osan City announced that it held a residents' briefing session on the 24th at the Seorang-dong Community Center for the 'Seorang Reservoir Citizen Healing Space Creation Project.' At the briefing, attended by Mayor Lee Gwon-jae, relevant department officials, and about 50 residents, the city revealed plans to maintain the area around the reservoir and transform it into a nature-friendly healing space.

Seorang Reservoir, located at the northern foothills of Nojeokbong, was created in 1955 to supply agricultural water. It has a watershed area of 410 hectares and a total storage capacity of 483,200 tons, with a dam 9.4 meters high and 268 meters long. It is adjacent to Doksanseong Semae Site, making it a popular spot for family visitors.

The project plan includes installing a waterside deck and introducing night landscape lighting and fountain facilities. In particular, efforts will focus on connecting the unfinished walking trail to link with the Osaek Dullegil Trail.

Earlier, during the 8th term of the elected mayor Lee Gwon-jae, consultations with Gyeonggi Province and National Assembly officials were continuously held to promote the project. He met with Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon to request project support and visited Kim Jeong-ho, the People Power Party representative of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, to propose budget support and cooperation.

Mayor Lee said, "Through the maintenance of Seorang Reservoir, citizens' leisure activities will become richer, and it will become a representative tourist destination of Osan City," adding, "We will thoroughly promote the project to ensure it is substantial by reflecting the opinions gathered through the briefing session."
