On the 26th, KITA held its '2025 Annual General Meeting' at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where it reported this plan along with this year’s business agenda and budget.
Since the inauguration of Chairman Yoon Jin-sik in February last year, KITA has focused on expanding support infrastructure for overseas market development and market diversification. Following the establishment of offices in Dallas, USA, and Warsaw, Poland last year, KITA plans to open additional offices this year in Hanoi, S?o Paulo, and Johannesburg.
Additionally, KITA will set up six business support hubs called 'KITA POST' in Mexico City, Mexico; Frankfurt, Germany; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Almaty, Kazakhstan; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and Singapore to assist with local market research and buyer discovery.
To respond to increasing global trade uncertainties such as the tariff policies of the new U.S. administration, KITA has established five key strategies: strengthening industry response capabilities, enhancing overseas bases and marketing, expanding export field and member-centered services, discovering next-generation export players, and expanding the foundation for future trade.
At the general meeting, Kim Jung-soo, Vice Chairman of Samyang Round Square Co., Ltd., and Sung Do-kyung, CEO of Vinatech Co., Ltd., were additionally appointed as non-standing vice chairmen, and the recruitment of the chairman team was approved. Samyang Round Square gained global popularity with its Buldak Bokkeum Myun brand and was the first in the food industry to receive the $700 million Export Tower award, while Vinatech is a strong small and medium enterprise in the next-generation energy storage system (ESS) and hydrogen fuel cell sectors.
Chairman Yoon Jin-sik of KITA stated, "This year is expected to be a period of extreme uncertainty with rapid changes in the industrial and trade paradigms. We will devote all efforts to enhancing the vitality of the trade industry by responding to export risks and supporting the expansion of overseas markets."
