The First Regular Concert of the Disabled Talent Development 'Gyeonggi Ribera Orchestra' to be Held in April

The first regular concert of the ‘Gyeonggi Ribera Orchestra,’ founded to support the dreams of people with disabilities, titled ‘The First Harmony,’ will be held on April 10 at 7:30 PM at the Suwon Gyeonggi Arts Center Grand Theater.

Hosted by Gyeonggi Province and organized by the Gyeonggi Arts Center, tickets for the Gyeonggi Ribera Orchestra’s regular concert will be available for purchase from 10 AM on the 27th of this month via Interpark and the Gyeonggi Arts Center website. An early bird discount event (50%) will also run until March 9.

Ticket prices range from 10,000 to 30,000 KRW depending on the seat. Discounts are as follows: 20% for Gyeonggi residents and friends of the Gyeonggi Ribera Orchestra KakaoTalk channel; 30% for youth pass holders, pregnant women, and families of distinguished military service; 40% for music majors, artists, and cultural arts workers; and 50% for seniors, people with disabilities, national veterans, and holders of the Culture Nuri Card.

This regular concert will feature a high-quality and diverse repertoire, including a collaborative performance with An Hee-chan, one of Korea’s top trumpeters who has served as principal of the KBS Symphony Orchestra, professor at Chugye University for the Arts, and currently music director of the Gangnam Wind Orchestra. The program will include Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March and Dvo??k’s Symphony No. 9 ‘From the New World.’

Previously, on December 3 last year, Gyeonggi Province founded the Gyeonggi Ribera Orchestra (conductor Park Seong-ho), the nation’s first talent development-type orchestra for people with disabilities, with the enthusiastic support of over 5,000 residents.

The orchestra consists of 40 disabled musicians aged 19 and over from the province and operates on a two-year cohort system. For this regular concert, they are dedicating themselves to individual training and ensemble rehearsals twice a week.

The Gyeonggi Arts Center is recruiting donors and volunteers from the public to support the artistic activities and growth of people with disabilities, enabling everyone to enjoy the arts. Support opportunities include donations, composition and arrangement, ensemble participation, photography, video, and other talent donations and volunteer work.

Residents wishing to support can apply through the Gyeonggi Arts Center website.

Park Rae-hyeok, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, stated, "As the Gyeonggi Ribera Orchestra was born with the support of many residents, we will do our best to support the orchestra so that young artists can freely express their passionate energy beyond disabilities and widely share it with the world."
