The Institutional Improvement TF was established in July 2022 with the purpose of discovering and improving regulatory factors affecting companies to contribute to the growth of resident companies. It consists of Busan Customs, Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, resident companies in the hinterland complex, the Busan New Port Hinterland Logistics Association, and BPA, holding regular meetings on the last Wednesday of every month.
Last year, the TF received feedback that the height restriction (40m) in the Ungdong hinterland complex was a constraint on the business expansion of resident companies. Through consultations with related organizations such as Changwon City and the Busan Port Construction Office, the height restriction in some sections was relaxed to 60m, providing a foundation for resident companies to pursue business scale expansion such as building extensions.
This achievement was recognized for promoting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and contributing to regulatory relaxation, and Busan Port Authority will receive a commendation from the Minister of Strategy and Finance in the 2024 Small and Medium Enterprise Regulatory Innovation Awards.
Furthermore, BPA announced that in 2025, in addition to the Institutional Improvement TF, it plans to hold meetings with representatives of resident companies twice a year to resolve regulations and difficulties faced by resident companies.
Sang-geun Song, President of BPA, stated, “Through the Hinterland Complex Revitalization and Institutional Improvement TF and meetings with representatives of resident companies, we will directly listen to various voices from the field and promote effective institutional improvements.” He added, “Through this, we will strengthen the competitiveness of the Busan Port hinterland complex and continuously support resident companies to conduct their businesses more smoothly.”
