Investigation for Violation of the Information and Communications Network Act
“At First, I Committed the Crime at an Acquaintance’s Request”
A foreign airline employee who sold flight reservation information of famous celebrities, including the group BTS, for money has been arrested by the police.
On the 25th, the police announced that the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has booked and is investigating a woman in her 30s, identified as A, on charges of violating the Information and Communications Network Act for obtaining and selling flight boarding information of dozens of celebrities.
A, an employee of a Hong Kong airline, used a work program that allows searching boarding information of airlines worldwide from 2023 to last year to confirm about 1,000 cases of celebrities' flight boarding information and sold them, earning over 10 million KRW. During the police investigation, A reportedly stated that "at first, I committed the crime at the request of an acquaintance, but later sold the information for money."
The police are currently tracking and investigating others who have leaked and sold flight ticket information of celebrities besides A.
