Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that it is operating an Agricultural By-product Crushing Support Team to suppress fine dust generation and prevent wildfires.
The county is implementing a safe disposal support project for agricultural by-products to prevent fine dust and wildfires caused by by-products by crushing them on-site and returning them to farmland, as well as to promote resource-circulating agriculture by improving soil fertility.
Farmers who wish to have their by-products crushed can apply to the industrial team at their local town or township office, and support will be provided. The crushing work will be carried out in consultation with each farmer in sequence. The project will be intensively conducted during the wildfire prevention periods from February to May and November to December.
Kim Nabina, head of the Damyang Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Crushing agricultural by-products not only reduces fine dust and prevents wildfires but also has various advantages such as enriching the soil. We ask for the active interest and participation of local farmers."
