According to the county on the 26th, the Dongsang Gorosoe Festival is organized and hosted by the Dongsang Gorosoe Crop Group, with support from Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, Wanju County, and JTV. During the festival, various programs will be held, including a gorosoe sap drinking contest, traditional farmers’ music and Nanta performances, congratulatory performances by singers, recreation activities, and performances by local cultural and arts clubs.
The county also plans to operate a market for tasting and selling gorosoe sap, selling local agricultural specialties such as dried persimmons, and offering food stalls with gorosoebuchim and goroseomakgeolli. Gorosoe is a healthy sap that anyone can drink, harvested from maple trees growing in high-altitude areas from this month to next, when the temperature difference between day and night is large. Gorosoe, collected from early spring, is rich in minerals such as calcium and manganese and has long been called "Gollisu," as it was believed to strengthen bones.
Kim Donghyun, head of the Dongsang Gorosoe Crop Group, said, "Dongsang gorosoe sap, collected from gorosoe trees growing at an altitude of 700 meters, has a higher sugar content due to the larger temperature difference compared to other regions. I hope you enjoy the unique taste and aroma of Dongsang gorosoe, hygienically collected from the pristine nature of Dongsang-myeon."
Yoo Heetae, the county governor, said, "I hope this festival delivers the healthy energy of spring to visitors and serves as an opportunity to revitalize the local economy. We ask for your interest and participation."
