The recruitment for the first half of the year’s Tongil Train passengers will be conducted sequentially next month through on-site registration and online application. The Tongil Train for the first half of the year will depart from Hyocheon Station on April 10 and May 22, heading to Cheorwon in Gangwon-do and Paju in Gyeonggi-do.

On-site applications are available for residents aged 65 and older from the 12th to the 15th of next month. Residents wishing to board must visit the nearest local administrative welfare center in pairs during this period to submit their application forms.

The total number of recruits is 172, including 100 passengers for Cheorwon and 72 for Paju. The results will be announced live on the Nam-gu TV YouTube channel at 3 p.m. on the 18th of next month, and individual notifications will also be sent via text message around 6 p.m. the same day.

Online applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 a.m. on the 24th of next month. This is open to Nam-gu residents and those with local ties, and the application site will soon be announced on the Nam-gu Office website. 150 and 108 participants will be recruited for the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) experiences in Cheorwon and Paju, respectively.

Nam-gu will provide a subsidy of 30,000 won per passenger using the Hometown Love Fund to offer residents the opportunity to board the Tongil Train and to encourage greater interest in peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Residents visiting Cheorwon can board the Tongil Train for 90,000 won, which includes train fare, meals, and field trip expenses, while the Paju course is available for 80,000 won.
