Gwangju Dong-gu (District Mayor Lim Taek) announced on the 26th that the "Gwangju Chueokui Chungjang Festival," Korea's representative street festival, has received the Grand Prize in the Festival Culture and Arts category at the "13th Korea Festival Content Awards."
With this award, Dong-gu has achieved the milestone of winning the Grand Prize for nine consecutive years, further solidifying the status of the Chungjang Festival as Korea's leading festival.
The "Korea Festival Content Awards," hosted by the Korea Festival Content Association (President Cha Jeonghyeon), is the nation's most prestigious award. It selects festival content that has received high acclaim from festival experts, the general public, and foreigners, aiming to boost the pride of local festivals and encourage their global development.
The Gwangju Chueokui Chungjang Festival, which is emerging as a global festival, received high praise for its achievements, including: providing new memories every day through the "1 Day-1 Big Event" concept; diversifying citizen-planned programs created by citizens; operating programs with active participation from citizens and visitors; and being a smart festival linked with ESG-friendly and smart technologies.
District Mayor Lim Taek said, "By winning the Korea Festival Content Grand Prize for nine consecutive years, we have further solidified our status as Korea's representative festival," and added, "We will not rest on our laurels, but will strengthen our content to enhance our global status and prepare for an even richer 22nd Gwangju Chueokui Chungjang Festival."
