Generative AI Now Available on Work Devices at 26 Financial Institutions
Mobile Access Permitted for 13 Financial Institutions
Microsoft (MS) announced on the 26th that the use of its generative artificial intelligence (AI) solution, 'Microsoft 365 Copilot,' has been permitted on the internal networks of 26 financial institutions.
Copilot was included in the item 'Use of SaaS (Software as a Service) and generative AI on internal work devices' among the newly designated innovative financial services announced by the Financial Services Commission on the 15th of last month. With this announcement, 26 financial institutions, including KB Financial Group, banks, insurance companies, securities firms, savings banks, and card and capital companies, can now utilize Copilot on internal work devices.
Copilot is a generative AI solution that supports work based on large language models (LLM) and business data. Microsoft 365, a cloud-based SaaS, provides tools for collaboration based on programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
Through this innovative financial service designation, financial institutions can collaborate anytime and anywhere via Teams, MS’s cloud-based collaboration tool. By linking with MS 365 apps, they can enhance work productivity through generative AI functions such as creation, editing, automation, and data analysis. For example, Copilot can automatically revise and summarize meeting notes written in Word files or analyze data in Excel files.
Use of MS 365 on mobile devices of financial institutions has also become possible. Thirteen designated financial institutions can utilize cloud-based MS 365 apps on mobile devices, not just PCs.
Jo Young-seo, Head of the AI×DT Promotion Group at KB Kookmin Bank (Vice President), said, "The introduction of Microsoft 365 Copilot is a new attempt focused on radically improving employee productivity. By accelerating AI innovation throughout the company, we expect to provide more differentiated customer services and have a positive effect on generating business outcomes."
Jo Won-woo, CEO of Microsoft Korea, stated, "Microsoft AI solutions are tools that can revolutionize the productivity and collaboration methods of financial institutions. Going forward, Microsoft will actively support more financial institutions in effectively utilizing generative AI and proactively responding to evolving regulations and security requirements."
