The Yongdu 1 Redevelopment Promotion Zone in the Cheongnyangni Redevelopment Promotion District of Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, will be constructed with a maximum height of up to 49 floors. An apartment complex with 250 households will be built, and some units will be supplied as Mirinae Houses targeted at newlyweds.

On the 26th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it held the 2nd Urban Redevelopment Committee and approved a revised plan for the redevelopment promotion plan of Yongdu 1 Redevelopment Promotion Zone (District 2) in the area of 23-8 Yongdu-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, within the Cheongnyangni Redevelopment Promotion District.

Through this decision, the height restriction in the area has been relaxed from the existing 90m, up to 27 floors, to 155m, up to 49 floors. The city evaluated that this allows for the establishment of a harmonious height plan considering the landscape within the Cheongnyangni-Wangsimni metropolitan center according to the 2040 Urban Basic Plan.

The city also improved the residential environment by changing 424 units of urban-type residential housing and officetels with exclusive areas of 21 to 45㎡ to 250 units of communal housing with an exclusive area of 59㎡, which is the size of national housing. Accordingly, the supply area of public rental housing was also expanded to 59㎡, enabling the supply of 11 Mirinae Houses, a long-term lease housing type II for newlyweds.

Additionally, the 'Housing Safety Comprehensive Center' operated by the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) is scheduled to move into the zone. The Housing Safety Comprehensive Center provides housing welfare counseling, information, case management for vulnerable housing groups, builds housing welfare networks, and offers various housing welfare support services.

Choi Jin-seok, Director of the Housing Office of Seoul City, said, "With the plan change, the Cheongnyangni area in Dongdaemun-gu will have the potential to develop further as a northeastern metropolitan center," adding, "We will continue to supply Mirinae Houses, preferred by newlyweds, through the redevelopment promotion project."
