Efforts Recognized for Minimizing Increases in Public Utility Charges
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that it received the Grand Prize in the Price and Consumer category at the '2024 Korea Regional Economy Awards,' jointly hosted by the Korean Regional Economic Association and the Korea Regional Economic Research Institute.
This award is given based on an analysis and evaluation of overall regional economic performance using annual official statistics from 17 metropolitan local governments and 226 basic local governments nationwide. Yongin City was selected for the Grand Prize in the Price and Consumer category for the second consecutive year, following 2023.
The city explained that it received high marks for its efforts and achievements in stabilizing local prices, including minimizing increases in local public utility charges and operating special measures to manage price stability during vacation seasons and holidays.
This year as well, the city is implementing various price stabilization policies such as expanding the designation of Good Price Businesses, issuing local currency, supporting small business owners and traditional markets, conducting price stabilization campaigns, and monitoring prices of personal service fees and agricultural, fishery, and livestock products.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "We will actively implement price stabilization measures that citizens can feel, such as expanding the designation of Good Price Businesses."
