Gangseo-gu Strengthens Benefits of 'MomDad Taxi' Service

Anyone Raising an Infant Under 24 Months Can Apply

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is expanding the operation of the ‘MomDad Taxi’ project to facilitate the mobility of infant caregivers.

‘MomDad Taxi’ is a service that supports the use of large taxis equipped with infant convenience facilities such as car seats. The district has enhanced benefits by adding additional points for multi-child and single-parent families to the existing 100,000 KRW taxi points.

The support target is families raising infants under 24 months old who are registered residents of Gangseo-gu. Anyone who is a practical caregiver, including parents, (grand)parents, and relatives within the third degree of kinship living at the same address, can apply. From this year, families fostering infants are also eligible to apply.

Applications can be made on the ‘Mongttang Information Master Key’ website. When applying, applicants can choose between two taxi operators, ‘Tada’ and ‘Papa’. After qualification is confirmed at the local community service center, the operator will provide a 100,000 KRW taxi voucher in points.

It takes about 12 days after application, and actual rides are available from March 4. After points are granted, users can call the ‘MomDad Taxi’ through the app of the selected operator. Digital vulnerable groups who have difficulty using smartphones can visit their local community service center in person to apply. Service applications are accepted until November 30 this year, and taxi use is available until December 15 this year.

This year, an additional 5,000 points will be added to the 100,000 KRW taxi voucher points, and if all points are used within three months, an additional 5,000 points can be received. Also, multi-child families (second child or more) and single-parent families will receive an additional 10,000 points, allowing up to 120,000 points per infant.

Last year, the district recorded a total of 11,753 uses annually and an average of 979 uses monthly for 3,898 infants. Caregivers can use the service without restrictions on travel purpose, location, or time when going out with infants, receiving great response from residents.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “We are expanding the ‘MomDad Taxi’ project so that outings with beloved children can become a joyful daily routine,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to practically reduce the burden on caregiving families.”
