Opening Ceremony for the Busan National University-Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Joint Convergence Graduate School
Agreements Signed Between Ulsan City, Companies, Universities, and Research Institutes to Strengthen Cooperation
Ulsan City will hold the "6th Ulsan Hydrogen Industry Day Commemorative Event" and the "Opening Ceremony of the Busan National University-Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Joint Convergence Graduate School" at 2:30 PM on the 26th at the Ulsan Technology Commercialization Headquarters of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology.
The event will be attended by about 100 people, including Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Busan National University President Choi Jae-won, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Director Lee Sang-mok, heads of hydrogen industry-related organizations, and company representatives. The program includes an introduction to the Joint Convergence Graduate School, awarding of appointment letters, commendations, and signing of business agreements.
The Joint Convergence Graduate School, opening on this day, was established following its selection for the "University-Research Cooperation Based (Platform) Pilot Project" led by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The graduate school aims to cultivate core talents based on hydrogen and will produce 25 master's and doctoral level talents annually through an education and research system based on university-research cooperation.
A total budget of 13.7 billion KRW will be invested in the "University-Research Cooperation Based (Platform) Pilot Project," with plans to implement systematic education to activate research and development (R&D) and nurture practical talents.
During the commendation ceremony, five individuals, including Woo-jin Choi from Ulsan Technopark, will receive commendations from the Ulsan Mayor for their contributions to the promotion and development of the hydrogen industry.
Finally, two business agreements will be signed.
▲ A business cooperation agreement for investment and attraction of original technology development in the hydrogen utilization field among Ulsan City, SK PIC Global, and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (joint cooperation for original technology development and commercialization in the hydrogen utilization field) ▲ A business agreement related to the operation of the Hydrogen Future Energy Convergence Major among Ulsan City, Busan National University, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and the Korea Hydrogen Industry Association (for the university-research cooperation platform project and operation of the Hydrogen Future Energy Convergence Major).
Ulsan City expects that this agreement signing will strengthen the cooperation system among local governments, industry, academia, and research institutes, and accelerate the establishment of a hydrogen economy ecosystem.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom emphasized, "The annual Ulsan Hydrogen Industry Day is an important event leading the development and harmony of the hydrogen industry," and added, "Through the opening of the Busan National University-Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Joint Convergence Graduate School, we expect to cultivate core personnel in the hydrogen industry and contribute to revitalizing the regional hydrogen economy."
"Ulsan Hydrogen Industry Day" was first designated in 2020 to commemorate February 26, 2013, when the world's first hydrogen electric vehicle was mass-produced at Hyundai Motor Company's Ulsan plant, and to foster Ulsan as the center city of Korea's hydrogen industry.
