Im Tae-hee, Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education, to Give Special Lecture at Harvard University on the 26th

Im Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, has officially started promoting 'Gyeonggi Future Education' in the United States.


On the 26th, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced that Superintendent Im Tae-hee will hold a meeting with the Korean student associations of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on the 25th (local time). At this meeting, Superintendent Im will introduce Gyeonggi Future Education to local students and exchange opinions regarding Korean and American elementary, middle, and high school education as well as university admissions.


On the 26th, he will meet with Professor Fernando Reimers of Harvard Graduate School of Education. Professor Reimers attended the '2024 UNESCO International Forum on the Future of Education' held in Gyeonggi Province last December, where he was deeply impressed by Gyeonggi education’s AI-based personalized learning for students. He subsequently invited Superintendent Im to Harvard University to deliver a special lecture.

After the meeting, Superintendent Im will give a special lecture titled "Educational Reform in Korea (Gyeonggi Province): Personalized Learning and the Role of Artificial Intelligence" to Harvard students, becoming the first Korean superintendent to do so. Following the lecture, he will attend an invitation reception hosted by Harvard University.


On the third day of his visit, the 27th, Superintendent Im will visit Belmont High School, where he will engage in discussions with the principal and Belmont Superintendent Jill Geiser, observe classes, and encourage students.


For the final schedule of his visit, Superintendent Im will hold a meeting with about 12 Harvard University professors. During this meeting, they will discuss the future direction of education in both Korea and the United States, reaffirm the international status of Korean education through the future education initiatives of Gyeonggi, and then Superintendent Im will depart for Korea on the morning of the 28th.
