Coupang Inc. surpassed annual sales of 40 trillion won for the first time in history last year, but operating profit slightly decreased compared to the previous year.

Coupang, a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, announced on the 26th that its sales last year reached 41.2901 trillion won (30.268 billion USD), a 29% increase from 31.8298 trillion won (24.383 billion USD) the previous year. During the same period, operating profit was 602.3 billion won (436 million USD), a 2.4% decrease compared to 617.4 billion won (473 million USD) the previous year. Following the first annual operating profit recorded in 2023, Coupang maintained profitability for two consecutive years, although the profit size decreased.

Sales in the fourth quarter of last year were 11.1139 trillion won (7.965 billion USD; quarterly average exchange rate 1,395.35 won), a 28% increase compared to the same period last year, and operating profit increased by 154% to 435.3 billion won. Coupang explained that the fourth quarter operating profit reflected the receipt of 244.1 billion won from fire insurance compensation for the Deokpyeong logistics center.
