Order for 18 Fuel-Efficient B787s
Expansion of International Routes Planned
Japan's major airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) Holdings will invest about 21 trillion won to acquire 77 new aircraft.
According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on the 25th, ANA Holdings has placed an order for 77 new aircraft and plans to increase international flights. Based on the manufacturers' list prices, the investment amounts to 2.158 trillion yen (approximately 20.683 trillion won), marking the largest investment ever.
As a result, the number of aircraft owned by the ANA Holdings group will increase from 272 at the end of last year to 320. The new aircraft are scheduled to be delivered over four years starting from April 2028.
ANA Holdings plans to focus particularly on expanding international routes with the new aircraft. Among the 77 additional aircraft, 18 will be Boeing B787 Dreamliners. By utilizing the fuel-efficient B787, the company aims to expand the scale of international flights by 50% compared to 2023 by 2030.
For domestic routes, ANA Holdings has ordered 20 Brazilian Embraer E190-E2 aircraft to be newly introduced. To replace existing aircraft, they will also acquire 14 Airbus A321s and 12 Boeing B737s.
ANA Holdings’ low-cost carrier Peach Aviation also plans to deploy 13 small Airbus aircraft.
Meanwhile, Japan's other major airline Japan Airlines (JAL) announced last March that it would invest 1.87 trillion yen to purchase 42 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing.
