The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 26th that it will hold the 'Early ON Companion Festival' from the 1st to the 28th of next month to promote consumption and revitalize domestic demand.
The Early ON Companion Festival is an online-centered consumption promotion event held ahead of the May Companion Festival. It was prepared as a catalyst for domestic demand recovery through discount events for products from small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, amid prolonged domestic demand stagnation.
First, discount events will be held on online channels during the festival period. About 870 various small business products will be sold at discounts of up to 30% through 15 distribution platforms including 11st, Gmarket, and Lotte ON. Kakao and Baedal Minjok will provide discount coupons and special exhibitions targeting small business products listed on their platforms as part of win-win promotions.
A joint sales exhibition of excellent products by young merchants in traditional markets and special exhibition halls for small business cooperatives and century-old small business products will be operated. Sodam Square (8 locations) and three private companies (SK Stoa, Grip, Oasis) will sell excellent small business products at discounts of up to 30% through live commerce. Home&Shopping and Gongyoung Home Shopping will hold special sales of SME products and online themed exhibitions.
Offline, special exhibitions and special sales events for small business products will be held in collaboration with three major distributors: Lotte Mart, Homeplus, and NC Department Store. At four Panpan Duty-Free Shops in Incheon International Airport and six exclusive sales venues for SME products including Hyundai Department Store and Happy Department Store, products from about 1,000 companies will be sold at discounts of up to 80% and with 2+1 bundle discounts. Two hundred local small supermarkets will participate in joint sales events, offering discounts of up to 20% on groceries and daily necessities.
To promote consumption in traditional markets during the festival period, 20% of the payment amount made with digital Onnuri gift certificates will be refunded as digital gift certificates for two weeks (March 17 to 28). The refund will be made in two installments, and based on cumulative payment amounts per installment, up to 20,000 KRW per person can be refunded. The minimum payment amount for the refund is 5,000 KRW.
Lee Dae-geon, Director of Small Business Policy, said, "To support small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn and to revive domestic demand, this year's Early ON Companion Festival has expanded sales channels and products compared to last year," adding, "Since events such as the Onnuri gift certificate refund campaign have been added to enhance consumer benefits, we hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity for smart shopping."
