KOTRA Listens to 'Youth Interns'... "We Will Support the Growth of Global Talent"

30 Youth Interns Gathered in One Place
Supported 377 Interns Domestically and Internationally Last Year
Significantly Expanded Field Trainee Selection Scale

KOTRA, which selects about 300 interns annually, gathered young interns in one place to share their job experiences.

On the 25th, KOTRA held a 'Youth Intern Meeting' with 30 young interns at the KOTRA Pitching Lounge in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Under the theme "I Want to Be One Too, Globi," the head of the organization directly engaged in conversations with the youth to share impressions of the work experienced at KOTRA and to address questions about the institution. KOTRA plans to actively reflect the opinions gathered during the meeting to further strengthen support so that young people can gain job experience at KOTRA and secure employment at more excellent domestic and international companies.

KOTRA operates the ▲Youth Intern ▲Industry-Academia Cooperation Intern ▲Field Trainee (Overseas Intern) programs, supporting 377 interns domestically and internationally last year to gain experience in global business tasks at KOTRA.

First, through the Youth Intern program, more than 200 people are hired annually within domestic organizational networks such as headquarters and regional support offices to support trade and investment tasks. Last year, eight individuals with youth intern experience were hired as regular employees at KOTRA.

The Industry-Academia Cooperation Intern program selects about 30 interns annually through cooperation with regional universities such as Ulsan University and Kumoh National Institute of Technology. It supports local talents with various engineering majors such as mechanical, automotive, and aerospace to gain business experience with global companies and grow into technology-convergence talents.

The Field Trainee program, utilizing KOTRA’s 129 overseas organizational networks, allows young people to work directly at KOTRA trade centers for five months. Notably, last year, the scale of field trainee dispatch was significantly expanded compared to the previous year (from 29 trade centers with 42 people to 42 trade centers with 111 people), providing youth with diverse cultural and overseas market experiences.

A young intern attending the meeting said, "It was very beneficial to experience global business through working at KOTRA, and I expect it will greatly help with future employment." KOTRA plans to expand communication with youth by reflecting the opinions gathered at the meeting.

Kang Kyung-sung, President of KOTRA, has continued to hold communication sessions with various organizational members since his inauguration. Starting from his first day in November last year with conversations with junior employees in their 20s and 30s, he has held dialogues with working parents in December, customer center staff and new employees in January this year, maintaining active communication across generations and ranks.

KOTRA will continue to strengthen various programs for youth job experience and employment. President Kang said, "It is also our important role to help young people grow into global talents through diverse business experiences," adding, "We will provide more opportunities to youth, and KOTRA will be a platform that supports their dreams."
