This event was prepared to encourage walking, a physical activity in daily life, in celebration of 'Obesity Prevention Day (March 4)', to prevent obesity, a major cause of various chronic diseases, and to create an atmosphere of practicing healthy living.

Among participants who achieve 210,000 steps during the challenge period, 100 people will be selected by lottery to receive a mobile gift certificate worth about 5,000 KRW, with up to 10,000 steps recognized per day.

To participate, search for and install the 'WalkOn' app on your smartphone, then proceed in the order of ▶signing up ▶joining Yeongju City's official community ('Light Steps Toward Health') ▶participating in the challenge ▶achieving the target number of steps during the challenge period and submitting an entry.

Additionally, until the end of April, 20 walking clubs will be recruited from Yeongju citizens. Each team, consisting of 3 to 5 members, will voluntarily practice walking exercises, and average step counts will be collected. Three outstanding clubs will be selected monthly and awarded souvenirs.

A public health center official said, “We will continue to take the lead in creating an atmosphere for practicing healthy living so that citizens can engage in walking exercises in their daily lives through the walking app challenge.”
