Hyundai Motor Company has decided to support the transportation of delegations from various countries to ensure the successful hosting of the '2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit' to be held in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk Province in the second half of this year. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 25th, the 2025 APEC Preparatory Planning Group signed a sponsorship Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with three private organizations including Hyundai Motor Company, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation, and Ceragem Co., Ltd.
Korea is serving as the APEC chair country this year. To prepare for the APEC Summit scheduled for late October to early November, approximately 300 official meetings will be held starting this month with the 1st Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) and its subsidiary meetings. Ministerial meetings by sector will be held across the country, beginning in Gyeongju this month, followed by Jeju in May, and Incheon and Busan in July and August. During the summit week, economic events along with the final Senior Officials’ Meeting (CSOM), the Joint Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Investment (AMM), and the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) will be held in Gyeongju. The organizations that signed this MOU plan to cooperate with the government in areas such as venue setup, meeting operations, and transportation facilities.
Hyundai Motor Company has supported protocol vehicles not only during the '2005 APEC Summit' but also major international conferences such as the '2024 Korea-Africa Summit.' Building on this experience, Hyundai plans to provide transportation vehicles for delegations during various APEC meetings, including six mobile office buses and nine hydrogen electric buses. Additionally, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation will supply Jeju Samdasoo water during the meetings, and Ceragem will provide massage devices to help delegates relax.
Cho Tae-yeol, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated, "For the successful preparation of the 2025 APEC Summit, it is very important for the government and the private sector to work together as one team in organic cooperation," and added, "Let us continue to strive together to gather creative and excellent capabilities from the private sector."
