Close Cooperation Between the Republic of Korea and Turkish Navies
Regular "Navy-to-Navy Meeting" and Defense Industry Collaboration

The Commander of the Turkish Navy visited Korea, held talks with the Chief of Naval Operations, and discussed naval military diplomacy and defense industry cooperation between the two countries.


The Navy announced that on the 25th, Admiral Yang Yong-mo, Chief of Naval Operations, will preside over the welcoming ceremony for Admiral Erzhument Tatlıo?lu, Commander of the Turkish Navy, at the Navy Headquarters and hold bilateral talks. This is the sixth visit of a Turkish Navy Commander to Korea, and it is Admiral Tatlıo?lu's first visit.


Through the bilateral talks, Admiral Yang and Commander Tatlıo?lu discussed high-level exchanges, personnel and educational exchanges, naval military diplomacy and defense industry cooperation between the two countries, unmanned and manned combined combat systems, and ways to strengthen multi-domain maritime security cooperation. The Republic of Korea and the Turkish Navy have maintained a close cooperative relationship, operating the annual "Navy-to-Navy Meeting" regular conference since 2008.

Prior to the bilateral talks, Commander Tatlıo?lu also paid a courtesy visit to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Kim Myung-soo the day before to discuss defense cooperation between the two countries.


Meanwhile, after completing his schedule at the Navy Headquarters, Commander Tatlıo?lu visited the Busan United Nations (UN) Memorial Cemetery to pay tribute to the veterans who bravely fought in the Korean War and protected the brotherly nation, the Republic of Korea. Turkey dispatched approximately 21,000 troops during the Korean War, and the remains of 462 fallen soldiers are interred at the UN Memorial Cemetery.
