Fire Spreads to Nearby Shops and Houses Due to Flammable Materials

At 8:01 p.m. on the 24th, a fire broke out at a hardware store in Haenam, South Jeolla Province, spreading to nearby shops and houses and completely destroying eight small buildings.

According to the fire authorities, the fire started at a hardware store in Hwangsan-myeon, Haenam County. The blaze spread rapidly due to flammable materials stored inside.

Residents who were inside the buildings at the time of the fire evacuated in advance, so there were no casualties, and some of the buildings were confirmed to be vacant.

The fire authorities issued a Level 1 response, deploying 10 pieces of equipment and 60 personnel. The fire burned down all eight buildings, including nearby houses and commercial properties, and was extinguished after 3 hours and 40 minutes.

The fire authorities plan to conduct a joint inspection to investigate the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
