The Vatican announced on the 24th (local time) that Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized for over a week due to pneumonia, is resting after having a good night's sleep.
At 8:18 a.m. that day, the Vatican stated in a press release, "The night passed well, and the Pope is sleeping well and resting."
The Vatican briefly updated the Pope's current condition with a one-line notice again on the same day, following the previous day.
The Vatican had announced the previous evening, "The Pope's condition is serious, but since the evening of the 22nd, he has not experienced any additional respiratory crises."
The 88-year-old Pope Francis has been hospitalized at Rome's Gemelli General Hospital since the 14th.
He had been suffering from bronchitis since early this month, and after hospitalization, a chest computed tomography (CT) scan on the 18th confirmed pneumonia in both lungs.
Amid growing concerns about the Pope's condition and excessive speculation and confusion, the Vatican announced on the 22nd that although the Pope's condition is serious, he is not experiencing a crisis.
The Pope received a blood transfusion due to low platelet counts, and his hemoglobin levels showed signs of recovery after the transfusion. He is also receiving high-flow oxygen therapy.
Regarding the prognosis of the Pope's illness, the Vatican took a cautious stance the previous day, stating that "due to the complex treatment situation, it must be closely monitored."
