Singer Psy (Park Jae-sang) has become an 'Honorary Graduate' of Yonsei University.

On the 24th, Psy received an honorary graduation certificate from President Yoon Dong-seop at the degree conferment ceremony held at the Yonsei University auditorium in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

After receiving the honorary graduation certificate, Psy engaged with the cheering graduates and shared his acceptance speech.

Psy expressed that he had never been so overestimated since his debut. He said, "I have always had fears, and sometimes I have tried to somewhat meet those overestimations throughout the past 25 years."

He also stated, "Yonsei University has given me an indelible overestimation and meaningful recognition," adding, "I intend to accept this meaning given to me and use it as new motivation."

Yonsei University explained the reason for the award, stating that Psy is recognized as a key figure who led the globalization of K-pop with worldwide hits like 'Gangnam Style.' They added, "He has consistently contributed to social causes, including donating 500 million won to Severance Children's Hospital in 2014," and "Since 2023, he has been serving as a special professor at the Yonsei Institute of the Arts, contributing to the education of future generations."

Yonsei University further stated, "We awarded the honorary graduation certificate in high regard of Psy's efforts to promote the name of Yonsei globally beyond South Korea, and his exemplary activities in the fields of culture, arts, and social contribution."
