Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held an opening ceremony for the new building of the Ungdong 119 Safety Center located at 44-10 Daejang-ro, Jinhae-gu on the 24th.
The event was attended by about 100 people, including Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Kwon Seong-hyun, Vice Chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, provincial and city council members, and the head of the Changwon Fire Headquarters.
With this opening, the Ungdong 119 Safety Center is now equipped to provide more systematic and prompt fire services. The latest facilities have enhanced fire response capabilities and enabled rapid emergency rescue support. Additionally, the working environment for firefighters has been improved to support more efficient task performance.
The Ungdong 119 Safety Center was constructed starting in February 2022 and completed in December 2024. It was built on a site area of 2,086㎡ with a total floor area of 955.94㎡. The total project cost was 5.683 billion KRW, and the three-story building includes a garage, offices, and training rooms.
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “The new building of the Ungdong 119 Safety Center will be an important foundation for improving the quality of fire services in the region,” adding, “We will do our best to make Changwon a safer city.”
