At the meeting, over 60 executives and staff members from the hinterland complex companies attended to reassess employee safety levels one year after the Serious Accident Punishment Act was expanded to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees (effective January 2024), and to conduct safety training aimed at enhancing safety management capabilities.

They also shared recent safety accident issues, focusing on fire and explosion cases that frequently occur during winter and thawing periods, and discussed onsite management measures to address these incidents.

Busan Port Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries’ port safety inspectors, conducts monthly safety inspections by visiting hinterland complex companies to identify onsite risk factors and provide technical advice on safety management, making proactive efforts to prevent casualties.

BPA President Song Sang-geun stated, “This year, as in the previous year, we will ensure the safety of port workers through continuous communication with the industry, joint inspections, and safety and health education to create a safe hinterland complex free of serious accidents.”
