On the 24th, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province held an opening ceremony for the Smart Senior Center in the large conference room of the county office.

The opening ceremony proceeded in the order of introduction of guests, progress report, completion report, greetings, congratulatory speeches, and ribbon cutting. The large conference room at the county office, the studio, and the senior centers were connected online through a video conferencing system, allowing participants to experience and communicate through leisure program demonstrations at the Smart Senior Center.
Yeongyang-gun was selected for the ‘2024 Smart Village Distribution and Expansion Project’ and carried out the Smart Senior Center construction project to enhance digital accessibility and improve the quality of life for the elderly.
This project was conducted over approximately four months from October 2024 to February 2025, targeting 50 senior centers within the jurisdiction. With a total budget of 714 million KRW, video conferencing systems and smart touch tables were installed.
The Smart Senior Center is a system that enables one-to-many real-time interactive communication using a video conferencing system, allowing many senior centers to connect simultaneously and enjoy customized programs such as singing and health exercises.
Additionally, with the introduction of smart touch tables, it is expected that elderly people, who are often marginalized in the digital era, will become more familiar with smart devices and that it will help improve cognitive functions.
County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “With the establishment of the Smart Senior Center, I hope the elderly in Yeongyang-gun can enjoy joyful and healthy leisure through various programs.”
