On the 24th, Gyeongbuk Province signed a "Business Agreement for the Successful Hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit" at the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office with Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk, and Kang Ho-dong, Chairman of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF).
This business agreement aims for mutual cooperation between Gyeongsangbuk-do and the NACF to host the "2025 APEC Summit" held in Gyeongju as the most successful APEC summit in history.
The main contents of the business agreement include promotional activities for the 2025 APEC Summit utilizing the infrastructure and networks of both organizations, promotion of the excellence of K-Food and Korean agricultural products and cooperation for overseas expansion, participation in the new civic movement K-MISO project emphasizing "Smile, Kindness, Cleanliness," support for the development of APEC-related financial products, and cooperation in the "Eat Breakfast Movement" to promote rice consumption.
Gyeongbuk Province expects that promotional activities leveraging the NACF’s network and infrastructure will greatly contribute to rallying national will for the successful hosting of APEC, raising global awareness of K-Food and Korean agricultural products, and facilitating their overseas expansion.
The NACF has a nationwide network including 2.04 million members, 1,111 affiliates such as agricultural cooperatives, and ATMs. Prior to signing the agreement, during the Lunar New Year holiday, NACF posted banners with the phrase "NACF will join in the successful hosting of the 2025 APEC Summit" at 200 NACF branches in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area, wishing for the success of the 2025 APEC Summit.
The NACF will also participate in the "K-MISO City Project," a new civic movement promoted by Gyeongbuk Province in preparation for the 2025 APEC Summit.
The MISO City stands for "My Innovative Smart Open City," a civic movement where citizens actively participate (my) to innovate (innovative) civic awareness and urban environment, creating a smart and open city to ensure the successful hosting of APEC.
The project focuses on five core tasks: a beautiful and friendly cultural city, a safe and pleasant citizen city, a tourist city welcoming the world, a smart city integrated with advanced technology, and a dynamic and open international city.
With this agreement, the NACF is expected to take the lead in participating in the K-MISO CITY project and expand it nationwide, working together to develop South Korea into a mature civil society.
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, said, "The 2025 APEC Summit is an opportunity to lead South Korea to become a top-tier country in the world with the power of Gyeongbuk, which drove the industrialization and modernization of Korea," and added, "Let’s make the 2025 APEC the most successful APEC in history together with the NACF and make South Korea a world-class nation."
