This spring, the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions are forecasted to experience higher-than-average temperatures and increased precipitation.

According to the three-month outlook released on the 24th by the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, rising sea surface temperatures and the strengthening of anticyclonic circulation are expected to bring in warm air, leading to a rise in temperatures.

There may be occasional influence from cold air in March, while the probability of temperatures being higher than average in May is 50%. The average temperature ranges for the past 30 years are 6.9 to 7.7 degrees Celsius in March, 12.2 to 13.2 degrees in April, and 17.4 to 18 degrees in May.

Precipitation in March and May is expected to be higher than average. In March, the influence of high sea surface temperatures in the North Pacific and the southern Indian Ocean will bring in warm and humid southerly air currents, resulting in generally higher precipitation, while April is expected to be similar to average. If the sea surface temperature in the Arabian Sea remains higher than average, warm and humid southwesterly winds will flow in during May, leading to more precipitation than usual.

The average precipitation ranges are 61.6 to 91.3 mm in March, 80.5 to 119.2 mm in April, and 110.1 to 131.4 mm in May.

A Gwangju Meteorological Administration official said, "Since climate factors are highly variable and dynamic, we recommend checking the three-month outlook released each month."
