Up to 20 Million KRW for Schools, Religious Facilities, and More
Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 24th that it will implement an open parking lot support project, providing facility improvement subsidies to public institutions, schools, religious facilities, and apartment complexes operating attached parking lots, in order to alleviate parking shortages and promote shared parking lots.
The open parking lot support project provides up to 20 million KRW in facility improvement subsidies to landowners and others if they open unused parking spaces in public facilities to residents free of charge. The project targets corporations, organizations, and individual owners who wish to open their parking lots.
To receive the facility improvement subsidy, at least 10 parking spaces must be opened free of charge for a minimum of 7 hours per day, at least 35 hours per week, for three years, either during the day or at night.
If there is a need to adjust the opening hours, prior consultation with the district office is required. The open parking area must be clearly distinguished from regular parking areas so that residents can use it conveniently.
The subsidy received for facility improvement can be used for installing open parking lot guide signs, repainting parking spaces within the lot, facility repairs, and installing outdoor security lights and CCTV.
A district official stated, "If there are many applicants, priority will be given to areas with severe parking shortages, such as densely populated residential areas," and added, "We hope for much interest and participation to promote parking sharing."
