Pohang Mayor Lee Gang-deok, "Will Spare No Support and Cooperation for Regional Welfare Development"

Emphasizing Support and Cooperation to Improve Social Workers' Treatment and the Quality of Welfare Services

On the 21st, Lee Gang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, met with the newly appointed executive board of the 11th Pohang Social Workers Association at the City Hall External Cooperation Office to congratulate them on their inauguration and discuss ways to advance local social welfare.

During the meeting, Han Sang-ho, the 11th President of the Pohang Social Workers Association, the executive board, Lee Won-han, the 15th President of the Pohang Social Welfare Administration Research Association, and other officials attended to exchange opinions on local social welfare issues and mutual cooperation measures to improve the treatment of social workers.


Established in 1995, the Pohang Social Workers Association advocates for the rights and improved treatment of social workers, provides professional development education, and conducts various activities such as regular general meetings and seminars. Currently, about 700 social workers in Pohang are active members.


President Han Sang-ho expressed his commitment, stating, “We will contribute to the development of local social welfare through public-private cooperation and take the lead in active support and policy development to promote exchange and strengthen professionalism among social workers.”


Mayor Lee Gang-deok emphasized, “I deeply appreciate the dedication of social workers who serve on the front lines of social welfare. The city will also spare no effort in providing multifaceted support and cooperation to improve their treatment and the quality of welfare services.”


On the same evening, the 26th Pohang Social Workers Association Regular General Meeting and the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the 10th and 11th presidents were held at the Youth Culture House, providing a meaningful opportunity to share the association’s vision and future development directions.
