Integration of Mobility Options Using the Climate Companion Card
Unified Brand Combining '∞' and 'GO' Unveiled
"Convenient Travel at a Glance for Domestic and International Visitors"
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has introduced the integrated brand 'GO SEOUL,' symbolizing Seoul's transportation modes. The brand collectively refers to transportation options accessible with the city's representative transportation policy, the 'Climate Companion Card,' aiming to elevate the status of 'Design City Seoul.'
On the 24th, Mayor Oh announced the integrated brand 'GO SEOUL,' which embodies the identity and uniqueness of Seoul's transportation, at Seoul City Hall, stating, "We will reorganize Seoul's public transportation under a single integrated brand to enhance the city's urban aesthetics."
The 'GO SEOUL' brand applies to four transportation modes accessible with the Climate Companion Card: buses, subways, public bicycles called Ddareungi, and Han River buses. The design combines the keyword 'GO' with the infinity symbol (∞) previously used in the Climate Companion Card, and is used alongside ▲BUS ▲METRO ▲RIVER ▲BIKE representing the respective modes.
This is the first nationwide branding of transportation modes, reflecting opinions from experts in design, transportation, branding, as well as survey results from 1,000 citizens. Mayor Oh explained, "It signifies that Seoul's transportation is continuously connected and moving toward the future."
Mayor Oh particularly expects that Seoul's global competitiveness will increase through the integrated transportation brand. Citing London's transportation system integrated brand 'Roundel' as an example, he expressed confidence that "not only Seoul citizens but also domestic and international visitors can easily identify and conveniently use transportation modes available with the Climate Companion Card at a glance."
The 'GO SEOUL' brand will be displayed not only on transportation modes but also at bus stops, subway stations, Han River bus piers, and Ddareungi rental stations to ensure consistency. The separately named 'Ddareungi' and 'Han River bus' brands will be used alongside the new brand to maintain consistency and help foreigners and tourists unfamiliar with the existing names easily recognize them. Mayor Oh stated, "Seoul's transportation innovation will not stop. We will continue to make Seoul a more convenient and pride-filled city with the integrated brand."
