'Youth Culture and Arts Pass' Application Open... 150,000 KRW Support for 19-Year-Olds to Enjoy Culture and Arts

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council announced on the 24th that they will begin accepting applications for the ‘Youth Culture and Arts Pass,’ which provides up to 150,000 KRW in support for young people born in 2006 (those born between January 1 and December 31, 2006) when booking cultural and artistic performances and exhibitions.

Any Korean youth born in 2006 residing in the country can apply, and the support funds can be used immediately when booking musicals, classical music, concerts, and exhibitions through partner ticketing platforms Interpark and Yes24. The issuance period for the Youth Culture and Arts Pass is from March 6 to May 31.

To apply, applicants must sign up as members on Interpark or Yes24, then apply for issuance on the Youth Culture and Arts Pass website. The issuance status and support amount can be checked on the My Page section of the website, and the usage period is until December 31 of this year. However, if the pass is not used even once by June 30, usage will be restricted from July 1, and unused funds will be reclaimed. The government plans to support more youth in enjoying culture and arts through additional issuance in the second half of the year.

First implemented last year, the Youth Culture and Arts Pass is a program designed to help young people grow as active consumers of culture. Passes are issued on a first-come, first-served basis according to the number allocated for each of the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, and may close early depending on regional circumstances.

Additionally, 11 national arts organizations and performance venues, including the National Ballet Company, offer ticket discounts to Youth Culture and Arts Pass users. Discount rates vary by performance.

Minister Yoo In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, "Last year, I had the opportunity to watch a performance with Youth Culture and Arts Pass users, and I still cannot forget the excited smiles of the youth," adding, "We will continue to implement policies so that young people, who are the future generation, can enrich their daily lives with culture and arts."
