Emerges as a New Growth Hub
Jangcheon-myeon in Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk is set to make a full-scale leap as a hinterland city of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport.
On the 21st, a residents' briefing session for the Gumi Jangcheon General Industrial Complex Development Project was held at the Jangcheon-myeon Comprehensive Welfare Center.
At the 'Gumi Jangcheon General Industrial Complex Development Project' residents' briefing session held at the Jangcheon-myeon Comprehensive Welfare Center on the 21st, about 100 people including local residents, city council members, and officials from Gumi Urban Corporation attended to share the project promotion plan and exchange opinions.
The Gumi Jangcheon General Industrial Complex will be developed on a scale of 980,000㎡ (300,000 pyeong) in the areas of Mugeori and Hajang-ri, Jangcheon-myeon, with a total project cost of 309.6 billion KRW. Gumi Urban Corporation plans to complete the industrial complex development by 2030.
At the briefing session, the following were discussed: ▲ schedule for industrial complex development ▲ related permits and approval procedures ▲ job creation and measures to revitalize the local economy.
Residents expressed expectations about the ripple effects the industrial complex development will have on the local economy, while some also voiced concerns about changes in the living environment.
Hong Soon-gwan, head of Jangcheon-myeon, said, “Through this briefing session, we will listen carefully to the diverse opinions of residents and actively reflect them in the project promotion,” adding, “We will do our best to make the Gumi Jangcheon General Industrial Complex a new turning point for regional development.”
