Songpa-gu Achieves Record High 2.95 Billion Won for 'Warm Winter Campaign'

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that the ‘2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ was successfully concluded, exceeding the target amount by 800 million KRW with the participation of many residents.

The ‘2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ is a fundraising activity aimed at helping neighbors in need within the local community, conducted in cooperation between the district and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest. It lasted for three months from November 15 last year to February 14 this year.

This year, a total of approximately 2.95 billion KRW in donations and goods were collected, achieving 137% of the initial target of 2.15 billion KRW. This is the highest amount raised in the past decade, reflecting the warm sharing spirit of the local community and various sectors despite difficult economic conditions.

Notably, active participation from companies and organizations stood out this winter. Real P Asset Consulting donated 50 million KRW, and Gwanaksan Industry, Hansol Hospital, and the Jamsil Parkrio Residents’ Representative Association each donated over 10 million KRW.

Additionally, Hotel Lotte Lotte World donated sponsorship goods worth about 10 million KRW for elderly people living alone, and the Goeo 2-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee and Macheon 2-dong Functional Organizations Federation each delivered approximately 40 million KRW worth of kimchi, adding warmth to the campaign.

Donated goods worth about 1.9 billion KRW, including rice and kimchi, were distributed to 22,396 low-income households and 545 welfare facilities within Songpa-gu. The 1.05 billion KRW in cash donations will be used this year to support households in need with living expenses, medical costs, and housing fees.

In particular, the cash donations will be used to support projects aimed at improving resident welfare through the Songpa Sharing Network. Special projects such as the Dong Happiness Fence, public welfare facility contests, and customized special projects in Songpa-gu will provide integrated services to low-income welfare blind spots, including children with intractable diseases, elderly people collecting recyclables, and single-person households at risk of solitary death.

The district will express gratitude to residents who participated in the Warm Winter Campaign by sending thank-you letters, responding to their warm hearts in practicing neighborly love. Furthermore, commendations will be awarded to organizations, companies, and individuals who have consistently donated. Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I sincerely thank all donors who shared their warm hearts for neighbors in need,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the collected donations are used where they are most needed for the underprivileged in the community.”

Songpa-gu Achieves Record High 2.95 Billion Won for 'Warm Winter Campaign' Home Medical Care Visits for Medical Care Recipients in Gwangjin-gu

Gwangjin-gu Launches Integrated Care Promotion Team

Selected last year in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s ‘Medical and Care Integrated Support Technical Assistance Pilot Project’ competition

Next month, the ‘Integrated Care Promotion Team’ will be formed to promote projects in five major areas including healthcare, nursing, and care

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is forming an ‘Integrated Care Promotion Team’ to innovatively improve community care services in line with the entry into a super-aged society.

This initiative aims to support integrated care so that residents facing difficulties in daily life due to frailty, disability, or illness can live at home while receiving medical, nursing, and other services.

The district has organized the promotion team with the deputy mayor as the head, including related departments of the district office, the National Health Insurance Service Gwangjin branch, and external organizations such as the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation. The main focus areas are five sectors: healthcare, health management, nursing, care, and housing, covering home visits, long-term care services, daily care, and housing support.

Selected last December by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the medical and care integrated support technical assistance pilot project, the district is now launching full-scale operations with the promotion team. Ahead of the full enforcement of the ‘Act on Integrated Support for Regional Care including Medical and Nursing’ in 2026, the pilot project will establish a collaborative system with specialized institutions and build a recipient-centered integrated care foundation.

The promotion team will start with a briefing session next month, followed by regular meetings focused on practitioners and public-private advisory meetings to discuss role division and project linkage among departments and institutions. During the first half of the year, the team will establish a delivery system for integrated care with related organizations and enact ordinances to provide a legal basis for support.

In the second half, the team plans to hold project briefings to provide information and actively collect various proposals and requests through communication with residents.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Once the medical and care integrated support system is successfully established, residents in need will be able to spend their later years stably at home without entering nursing facilities,” and added, “We will do our best to form the Integrated Care Promotion Team and ensure thorough project implementation to create a sustainable, community-centered care environment. We ask for the interest and cooperation of all residents.”

People Making Gwanak-gu a Clean and Pure Living Environment

15 Illegal Dumping Security Guards Begin Activities…Patrol in pairs to crack down on illegal dumping and promote proper disposal methods

Dedicated managers for street trash bins and Zero Cigarette Butt Teams deployed in high foot traffic areas…Contributing to improved urban cleanliness

In Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee), there are staff working hard on the ground to create a ‘clean living environment’ where residents want to stay.

This year, the district deployed ▲15 illegal dumping security guards ▲dedicated managers for street trash bins ▲Zero Cigarette Butt Teams, and announced that full-scale activities began on February 10.

The newly hired illegal dumping security guards started their activities after safety and health education and CPR training.

They patrol in pairs, promoting proper disposal methods to residents and enforcing penalties such as fines for illegal dumping. Especially in areas dense with shops like Sillim Station and Seoul National University Station, crackdowns on illegal dumping such as using non-standard bags, mixed disposal, and disposal outside designated times will be intensified, and leaflets on proper separation and disposal methods will be distributed.

Last year, illegal dumping security guards detected 10,041 cases of illegal dumping and imposed fines totaling 397 million KRW.

The district installed about 200 street trash bins in areas with high foot traffic such as bus stops and subway entrances and assigned ‘dedicated managers’ to them. These managers clean and disinfect the bins and separate waste by type to maintain cleanliness and create a pleasant street environment. In areas with frequent cigarette butt littering, two-person ‘Zero Cigarette Butt Teams’ will conduct collection activities to contribute to improved urban cleanliness. Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “To advance as a sustainable green city, we will carry out efficient and stable cleaning administration,” and added, “To create a livable clean living environment in Gwanak, we ask residents for active participation and cooperation in using volume-based waste bags, proper waste separation, and reducing household waste.”

Seongdong-gu Creates Safer Workplaces and Living Spaces!... Zero Industrial Accidents!

Three major strategies including fostering safety culture, practicing safety culture, and promoting safety culture to strengthen safety awareness in daily life and raise awareness of serious industrial accidents

Eight major tasks including sending letters from the mayor expressing safety commitment and producing ‘Top 10 Seongdong Safety Rules’ to encourage voluntary safety practices in daily life

Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it will promote a ‘Safety Culture Expansion Policy’ to create safe and healthy workplaces free from industrial accident concerns and strengthen safety awareness in daily life.

As the fourth year of the Serious Accident Punishment Act enforcement approaches, the importance of safety is increasingly emphasized. The district will strategically promote policies to raise awareness of serious industrial accidents and spread a safety culture.

Based on three major strategies?‘Fostering Safety Culture’ to establish a safety-first culture, ‘Practicing Safety Culture’ to internalize safety awareness among employees, and ‘Promoting Safety Culture’ to raise safety awareness in the community?the district plans various activities to prevent industrial accidents in both the district office and private workplaces and strengthen safety awareness in the community.

Accordingly, eight major tasks will be implemented step-by-step to encourage voluntary safety practices in daily life: quarterly letters from the mayor, production of the district’s own safety code ‘Top 10 Seongdong Safety Rules,’ drafting of ‘Safety Culture Practice Pledges,’ joint labor-management safety culture practice declarations, posting of safety and health webtoons, strengthening the operation of safety watchdogs, expanding safety campaigns, and sharing serious accident case studies.

First, recognizing that the mayor’s commitment to safety is the foundation of effective safety policies and key to preventing accidents, the mayor will send letters quarterly to employees emphasizing safety management. The first letter, scheduled for March, will focus on inspection items to prevent major safety accidents such as ground collapse and falling rocks during the thawing season, ensuring thorough management. As the message comes directly from the mayor, it is expected to deepen employees’ awareness of safety importance.

Additionally, the district will produce and distribute its own safety code, ‘Top 10 Seongdong Safety Rules,’ to help employees and residents learn and practice them. The code includes guidelines such as wearing helmets when using portable ladders, prohibiting smartphone use during work and walking, having fire extinguishers ready during fire-related work, and making tidying up a habit after work. Witty explanations like “One step on the ladder, twice as safe with a helmet!” and “Keep your eyes on the road! Smartphones can wait!” will enhance message delivery.

Various projects to promote voluntary safety culture practice among employees will also be carried out. In April, all employees will sign a ‘Safety Culture Practice Pledge’ committing to creating a safe work environment and following safety and health rules. In June, a ‘Joint Labor-Management Safety Culture Practice Declaration Ceremony’ will be held, where labor and management representatives will strengthen their responsibilities and obligations for safety and pledge to practice a safety culture.

Since safety greatly affects individuals and families but is often overlooked, the district will actively promote safety culture to maintain continuous interest. Safety and health webtoons on topics such as suffocation accidents, electric shocks during the rainy season, and heatwaves in summer will be posted on the website to help residents recognize the importance of safety and follow safety rules themselves.

Last year, the district conducted the ‘Seongdong Safety, Absolutely Keep It!’ campaign at 74 locations including major points and Seongdong-type Smarter Shelters to raise awareness of helmet use, and plans to expand it this year.

In May last year, the district held a ‘Serious Accident Punishment Act Briefing’ for about 200 business owners and related personnel from workplaces with fewer than 50 employees, and provided safety and health education to about 80 people including directors of public daycare centers to support the establishment of safety and health management systems in small workplaces.

Thanks to these efforts, since the enforcement of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, the district has achieved ‘Zero’ serious industrial and citizen accidents.

This year, the district plans to continue efforts for safe workplaces with residents by sharing accident case studies by type through card news, posting safety and health webtoons, and strengthening the operation of safety watchdogs in each neighborhood. Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I hope the ‘Safety Culture Expansion Policy’ will raise safety sensitivity in workplaces and daily life, leading to voluntary safety practices,” and added, “‘Safety’ is directly linked to everyone’s happiness and is a value that must be prioritized. We will create a ‘Smart Safety City Seongdong’ where workplaces and living spaces are safe.”
