Creating a Safe and Healthy Environment for Children's Preferred Foods
Comprehensive Inspections of Cooking and Sales Establishments Around Schools Ahead of the Spring Semester
Ulsan City will conduct guidance and inspections of cooking and sales establishments around schools and academies from the 24th to March 21st, ahead of the spring semester.
This inspection aims to create an environment where children can purchase safe and hygienic food, as part of a preliminary check for managing children's food safety during the school opening period.
The inspection targets 604 cooking and sales establishments of children's preferred foods located within a 200m straight-line distance from the boundary of schools, within the food safety protection zones.
The food safety protection zone is an area designated under the "Special Act on the Safety Management of Children's Dietary Life," where special management is conducted to ensure the safety of children's dietary life.
In particular, this inspection will focus on hygiene-vulnerable establishments that have received administrative dispositions or fines for violations of the Food Sanitation Act within the past two years, or have had three or more administrative guidance records within the past year. Food service businesses and unmanned sales points will also be intensively managed.
The main inspection items include ▲ hygiene management of cooking facilities and tools ▲ storage conditions of ingredients ▲ compliance with storage standards for frozen and refrigerated foods, and education and promotional activities to prevent food poisoning during the school opening period will be conducted simultaneously.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “We will continue to strengthen management to create a hygienic environment and ensure the safety of food and other items in establishments that cook and sell children's preferred foods within the food safety protection zones.”
