Park Seon-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, claimed that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) ordered a covert operation against him. The NIS denied the claim as groundless.
On the 21st, during the 4th hearing of the "Special Committee for the National Investigation into the Alleged Coup Charges through the Declaration of Martial Law by the Yoon Seok-yeol Government" held at the National Assembly, Park stated in a personal remark, "They say I wrote the 'Hong Jang-won memo,' but the handwriting is completely different," expressing this.

This means that Park is unrelated to the memo listing arrests during martial law, which was testified by former NIS First Deputy Director Hong Jang-won. Park also displayed a photo comparing his handwriting with that of former Deputy Director Hong.
Park named NIS First Deputy Director Oh Ho-ryong, who succeeded Hong, and two other NIS officials, claiming, "These three people reportedly received an urgent operation order to connect former Deputy Director Hong, the Democratic Party, and me to fabricate a coup plot."
In response, the NIS issued a statement to the media, denying, "Park's remarks about the NIS involving an 'urgent operation order' are completely untrue." The NIS added, "Park, a former political appointee of the NIS and a member of the Intelligence Committee, mentioning NIS staff by name in public could cause serious harm to national security. We express deep regret."
