Na Kyung-won: "Lee Jae-myung is a thief... steals all the good words"

Fierce Criticism of "Democratic Party is Moderate Conservative" Remark
"Lee Jae-myung's Perception Invasion: Stealing Conservative History"

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, fiercely criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who defined the party's identity as moderate conservative, calling him a "thief."

Na Kyung-won: "Lee Jae-myung is a thief... steals all the good words" Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, fiercely criticized Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who defined the party's identity as moderate conservative, calling him a "thief."

On the 21st, Na wrote on Facebook, "Lee leader steals all the good words. He may steal words, but he cannot steal actions." She questioned, "The Democratic Party's identity is moderate conservative?" and evaluated, "What Lee Jae-myung says is a chaotic, misleading scam." She added, "Cornered by the judgment of his own crimes, he wears himself out for an early presidential election and tries to deceive the people by pretending to shift to the right," and assessed, "He is just a reactionary leftist who, watching the labor union and 'Gaeddal' (fervent female supporters), shifts right and left chaotically but never takes real action."

She also pointed out Lee’s use of the phrase "Recovery and Growth, Again Great Republic of Korea" on the backdrop in the party leader’s office. "He practices anti-national parliamentary dictatorship and shouts 'Again Korea.' He criticizes and mocks President Park Chung-hee’s 'Let’s live well' slogan, then plays word games with 'Well-living-ism,'" she directly attacked. Lee admitted that when controversy arose over the backdrop phrase overlapping with the Yoon Seok-youl administration’s slogan "Again, Korea, a New Nation of the People," he said, "I knew it overlapped, but I insisted on using it."

Na also mentioned Lee’s impersonation of a prosecutor incident. "While attempting to seize power through fraudulent impeachment, he even commits cognitive invasion by stealing the history and faults of the conservative right," she said, "No matter how much he impersonates a prosecutor, he cannot become one and only becomes a criminal." The impersonation incident refers to Lee being fined by the Supreme Court for impersonating a prosecutor during his lawyer days in 2002 while investigating the 'Bundang Parkview preferential sale' case with former KBS PD Choi Cheol-ho and others. Later, during the 2018 Gyeonggi governor election debate, he was tried for violating the Public Official Election Act by falsely claiming he was framed, and was also prosecuted for demanding false testimony from Kim Jin-sung, the late Kim Byung-ryang’s secretary, during the trial.

Lee had previously said about the center, "If you lose your identity and waver ambiguously, you rather become suspicious," and "(the center is) a shield to cover up corrupt vested interests," but suddenly defined the Democratic Party as moderate conservative. The People Power Party was outraged. Floor leader Kwon Seong-dong said, "The moderate conservatism Lee mentioned is actually a 'two-faced political scam,' and pragmatism is also 'opportunism with one foot in both camps,'" and criticized, "He only has election engineering in mind and does not care about the future of the people." Assemblyman Ahn Cheol-soo evaluated, "If Lee Jae-myung’s Democratic Party is a moderate conservative party, then even flies would be birds." Former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong shared a screenshot of a post Lee wrote on November 27, 2016, when he was mayor of Seongnam, titled "Don’t be fooled by the moderate frame. Lee Jae-myung does not do moderate cosplay."
