Chae Jongkyung: "We Will Support Strengthening Global Competitiveness"
The Korea RC (Responsible Care) Council held its regular general meeting. The Korea RC Council is an organization established in 1999 to promote environmental protection, safety, and sustainability in the domestic chemical industry. RC refers to the Responsible Care initiative practiced by the chemical industry to protect the environment.

On the 21st, the Korea RC Council announced that it successfully held the 26th regular general meeting for 2025 at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. Representatives and executives from major domestic chemical companies such as Kumho Petrochemical, DL Chemical, Lotte MCC, and LG Chem attended the meeting. This general meeting was held to review last year’s activities and share this year’s business plans. According to the Korea Chemical Industry Association, which operates the secretariat of the Korea RC Council, the meeting particularly discussed ways to improve the image of the chemical industry and measures to regain trust from the general public.
The chemical companies attending the meeting requested the council to address matters necessary to achieve global initiatives. Among the requests were ▲ enhancing the level of RC implementation and objective evaluation of its outcomes ▲ strengthening workplace safety management systems ▲ social contribution through outreach programs ▲ revitalizing information delivery to member companies.
Chae Jong-kyung, chairman of the Korea RC Council and CEO of Dongseo Petrochemical, said, “This year as well, we will further strengthen the role of the council to support the sustainable growth and global competitiveness of member companies,” adding, “Although various challenges and changes await, such as securing industrial sustainability, responding to environmental and safety regulations, and strengthening international cooperation, if we cooperate together, we will be able to find the right direction.”
