Employment Opportunities Linked for 100 Local Youths
Shinan-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Park Woolyang) announced on the 21st that it has been selected for the '2025 Youth Challenge Support Project' public offering and has secured 400 million KRW in national funding.
This project targets 100 local youths aged 18 to 34. Eligible participants include those who, as of the project selection date, have not participated in employment, education, or vocational training for more than six months, as well as those who have left child welfare facilities within the past five years or have had their protection period extended. The project aims to support reclusive youths who are losing their motivation to seek employment, helping them reintegrate into society as active members.
The program will be conducted in three tracks: short-term (5 weeks, 25 participants), mid-term (15 weeks, 50 participants), and long-term (25 weeks, 25 participants). Through one-on-one counseling, the program will help participants regain confidence and explore career paths, while also offering job competency enhancement programs and job placement opportunities in collaboration with local companies.
Participants will receive stipends according to their level of participation: 500,000 KRW for the short-term program, 1.5 million KRW for the mid-term, and 2.5 million KRW for the long-term. Additionally, those who complete the mid-term program will receive a 200,000 KRW incentive, while those who complete the long-term program will receive a 200,000 KRW incentive and an additional 300,000 KRW incentive for job-seeking or entrepreneurship activities after the program ends.
Furthermore, among mid- and long-term participants, those who find employment or start a business within six months of completing the program and remain employed for three months will receive an additional 500,000 KRW incentive. The program will be operated by the Shinan Renewable Energy Foundation, a county-affiliated organization, which will handle youth recruitment and program management.
Governor Park Woolyang stated, "Shinan-gun and the Renewable Energy Foundation will work together to ensure the Youth Challenge Support Project is implemented effectively. We will also support program graduates in finding jobs or starting businesses, especially in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, tidal), which is a key focus for the region's future."
