Chungnam Province to Establish Drone Park in Nonsan... Equipped with Runways and Charging Facilities

Chungnam Province announced on the 21st that Nonsan City has been finally selected as the project site through the '2025 Drone Park Construction Project' public contest.

Among 14 cities and counties in the province, Nonsan City was chosen as the final project site after a rigorous evaluation and comprehensive review of 13 criteria, including site suitability, commercialization potential, and the establishment of a safety management system.

The drone park will be built on a 5,924-square-meter site near the Tapjeongho Riverside Ecological Park in Bujeok-myeon, Tapjeong-ri, Nonsan City, with a total project cost of 600 million won, including 180 million won from provincial funds.

The drone park will feature various drone flight infrastructure such as a fixed-wing runway, a takeoff and landing area (helipad), and charging and rest facilities. It will also provide space for drone companies to conduct test flights, which is expected to greatly contribute to attracting related businesses and vitalizing the drone industry.

In particular, the drone park is adjacent to Tapjeongho Riverside Ecological Park, which attracts one million visitors annually, making it possible to link with other tourism projects such as the complex cultural and leisure complex development, thereby increasing its utility.

The province plans to establish a system for real-time monitoring and management of drone flights and to create a safety management system to protect both drone park users and nearby residents, aiming to foster a safe drone culture.

Lim Taekbin, head of the Provincial Land Management Division, said, "Through the Nonsan City Drone Park, we will further revitalize drone leisure sports and drone demonstration projects, invigorate the local economy, and take the Chungnam drone industry to the next level."
