Sookmyung Women's University Collaborates with Geninus to Develop Chronic Female Disease Treatments

Research on Overcoming Diseases Such as Osteoporosis

Sookmyung Women's University is collaborating with genome analysis company Geninus to develop treatments for chronic female diseases.

On the 21st, Sookmyung Women's University Women's Health Research Institute announced that it signed a 'business agreement for the promotion of women's health' with Geninus on the 19th.

Through this agreement, both institutions will promote research for the development of new drugs to treat chronic female diseases such as postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Last year, Sookmyung Women's University was selected for a government project worth 6.7 billion KRW supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and established the 'Spatiotemporal Omics Center,' a research space for geriatric musculoskeletal systems, under the Women's Health Research Institute.

The Women's Health Research Institute plans to focus on overcoming intractable geriatric diseases after menopause by sharing Geninus's spatial transcriptomics big data production and analysis technology.

Yang Young, director of the Women's Health Research Institute, said, "We hope to become a leading research institution contributing to the promotion of women's health through this research and development collaboration."
