The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it received 563 million KRW in accumulated funds from the Daejeon Education Love Card usage from the Daejeon branch of NH Nonghyup Bank on the 21st.
The Daejeon Education Love Card is a credit card created through a partnership between the Office of Education and NH Nonghyup Bank since 2004. The accumulated funds delivered this time were collected by saving a certain percentage of the card usage amounts (1% for corporate cards, 0.3% for personal cards) by the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, its affiliated organizations (schools), and members of the Daejeon education community. As a result, the total accumulated funds from the Daejeon Education Love Card have increased to 5,966.31 million KRW.
The accumulated funds from the Daejeon Education Love Card are used every year as scholarships for students in financial need, students with outstanding talent or athletic ability, and for international exchange programs for local schools and students. Last year, 215 students received support through these funds.
Superintendent Seol Dongho stated, "Since the accumulated funds from the Daejeon Education Love Card are used as scholarships for our local students, I hope that with the great interest of the educational community, more funds will be raised so that more students can benefit from scholarships."
